Addendum 28 Reflection on scholastic advancement This elaborative type of scholastic advancement concentrated on ethos, feeling, and logos. These three recognitions or classifications set up some time in the past however in present day business correspondence, we can discover their intrigue. A nature of information and profound comprehension of each procedure is significant for every correspondence directors or pioneers in an association (White 2016). I have taken in all the potential variables of ethos, sentiment, and logos and attempt to assess their talk way to deal with business. In a part of ethos pretty much every association has their morals and representatives of the organization work for keeping up the morals. I have discovered that this moral speeding up is seen by the clients additionally before purchasing any sort of items or before utilizing any administrations. Then again, sentiment is a passionate way to deal with manage. There are numerous associations that impact their clients through feeling. Audiencesget pulled in by these sorts of exercises and organizations are essentially attempts to summon compassion from crowds. There are some brief activities between any sort of living being or making some inclination in the middle of living and non-living things are very significant in this part of discernment. I have verified that these activities are moving individuals, relating their life and inspiring them to utilize those items. Logos has a coherent intrigue to crowds. There is acertain association that has utilized this rationale in their business and advancements to exhibit the sensible yield of the item. Organizations are demonstrating their help with their idea and express the rationale behind that. In this area, organizations are sufficiently grown so they can distinguish their business openings in the piece of the pie (2015). I have discovered that ethos has been utilized in various organizations and every one of these organizations are utilizing their powerful assets to make a decent market position of the organizations. In the vast majority of the cases, there are some specialized perspectives that come in ethos segment and I have distinguished those segments that give better business correspondence crowds. Organizations like NBC have confidence in the better news that gives most recent and top stories which impact countries economy, issues, and favorable circumstances. Then again, FedEx has best flexibly chain the executives and coordinations the executives and they have this morals to keep up their creation too. Amul is another organization that serves for quite a long time and their quality and item is their imagery. So these are the ethos related structure that by one way or another impacts the item development in the market and acquire individuals trust to make this brand fruitful. I likewise found that ethos is very compelling in current business. In the greater part of the cases, business correspondence can be decided by the morals of the organization and all things considered, correspondence supervisory group will step up to the plate advance the situation of the business showcase. In the event of Pathos, organizations are attempting to impact individuals by the passionate touch. Their plugs have such passionate touch that associated by the watchers and clients. Individual attentionis got by plugs and gives the best impact in clients to purchase their item and produce more income for the organization. In spite of the fact that this recognition had come a great many years prior there are various organizations who have taken this discernment to get an upper hand from different organizations. There are some non-benefit associations those are working for loss of motion individuals or malignant growth individuals, have this sort of feeling discernment in their work. These associations are helped by the legislature. Tenderness can act if there should arise an occurrence of dread. I discovered that sentiment just plays on clients stress. On the off chance that individuals consider their way of life, at that point just they associated with those items. I additionally f ound that emotion is making a longing as a top priority and that craving has coordinated towards the item. Whatever the amount of the item, in any case, the taste is, individuals want to have this food. A portion of the plugs of poignancy creati

Animal Testing. Brandon Sandlin. Psychology 1010. Professor

Animal Testing Brandon Sandlin Psychology 1010 Professor Caplandies March 24th, 2017 Animal testing has risen as an extremely controversial topic among scientists and animal rights activists. Many see it as a necessary part of finding cures for thousands of diseases. On the other hand, animal rights activists believe it is an inhumane, harsh, and unnecessary flaw in science. The argument can go back and forth but I believe animal testing should not be used in today’s technically advanced era. The laws are flawed, the failures are evident, and the available alternatives prove that animal testing should be indefinitely banned for future science experiments. Animal Testing is nothing new, it has been going on for hundreds of years†¦show more content†¦Ã¢â‚¬Å"Its enforcement is delegated to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, whose inspectors make unannounced site visits to research facilities† (Latham). This brings up the first loophole in the act because these â€Å"unannounced site visits† are not as common as they should be. One pet shop may only be visited once a year which is clearly not enough to deem the establishment law abiding. Secondly, the Animal Welfare Act of 1966 doesn’t protect all animals, but rather a small group of animals. Latham states, â€Å"it contains special regulations addressed to certain animal favorites: dogs, cats, rabbits, and monkeys†¦But in fact the law has never reached the bulk of warm-blooded animals actually used in research†. This seems contradictive to me. Why would you protect only a handful of animals but not the ones most prominently used in testing such as chimpanzees, rats, and guinea pigs? I believe the Animal Welfare Act of 1966 needs to be amended once again to improve its blanket of coverage and increase site visits. Going hand in hand with the Animal Welfare Act of 1966, the Three R’s are also intended to protect animal’s welfare. The Three R’s is a tenet that represents the ethical principles to guide researchers – Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement. The purpose of The Three R’s is explained by Fenwick, Griffin, Gauthier when they said, â€Å"The tenet is grounded in the premise that animals should be used only if a

Sample details Pages: 7 Words: 2088 Downloads: 4 Date added: 2017/06/26 Category Statistics Essay Did you like this example? During this assignment, the German banks data were compared to that of France and Italy banks. A simple regression analysis was performed. The data suggests that there are great variations in the basic principles when are applied in finding out the exact risks. In general, it is noted that that the France and Italy banks are more riskier than the German banks. In the financial institutions, the risks are assessed in a very particular manner. The purpose of discussing risks is to encourage the investors in the banking sectors. Therefore the managements and high level authorities in the banking system apply the various tools in addressing the risks. It is very eminent that the with out the support of the banking systems by and large the businesses can not grow, as these should be. Therefore there must be some ways of addressing the risks in the very first place. Including to satisfy the share holders and stakeholders, and other stakeholders, (Watson and Head, 2005). Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Are German Banks Riskier Than Some European Competitors" essay for you Create order There are eminent differences in between the emerging market financial systems and the banking systems of developed countries. However the reasons for this significantly. It is noted that the various researchers, scholars, and academicians have shown divided ideas. As we can that some of them had a firm view about the unstable macroeconomic environment, and rest of the scholars have come forward with the point about weaker risk management practices, (Beck et al. 2003). Keeping the importance of risks assessment and its management, the followings are highlighted, so that this issue can understood in an acceptable way. Literature of Review: The banks invest their money in the different projects, such as buying of shares, construction projects, and other financial intuitions. There is also a fact that the management s in the banks monitor, evaluate and judge the performance of their projects during and after the completion of projects. Similarly, Ma, and Eli (2005) indicated that the implementers in the banking sectors must get the lessons for the previous years, failing to this would be failure of the whole project. Basically they (Ma and Eli) did support the theory of application, which suggests that investing directly to the system do not justify the action. There must be a some kind of rational in addressing the risks in the financial and highly competitive environment. In addition, to above, according to Bank for International Settlements, (2002) and Topping (2005) while highlighting the importance of risks evaluation and its management indicated that the some of the factors which contribute the risks are such as, the changing nature of macroeconomic risks, new forms of risks to the banks, and whether or the abilities, skills and other measures have really improved in addressing the issues of risks. In very simple words, it is found that the risks increase when the banks do not imply certain methods. These methods are related to see and judge the results of previous years when there were projects in the pipe lines. Some of the high rated researchers, scholars and professionals such as Chris (2008) and Topping (2005) basically indicated the following levels are addressed and if done, then there are less chances of increasing risks, such as: Risk identification: This is very basic stage where the banks can identify the risks. In simple meaning in the inputs are discussed broadly, and its implications are noted before, during and after the completion. In broader sense, this is done at the sites, where projects will be launched. Particularly, the following points can help in identifying the risks, such as: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Who will take responsibility for risk identification? à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Process for risk identification, including existing and new products, and à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Regularity in reviews. Risk measurement: The followings nine factors can be measured during risk measurement such as: Capital, Assets, Market risks, Earnings, Liabilities, Business, Internal Controls, Organisation, Management. Whereas while talking about frequency of risk measurement, the followings should be noted very carefully, such as: Sources of data, it includes market prices and position information Risk measurement tools, given the complexity and level of risk assumed, Ability to measure risk at both transactional and portfolio levels. Methodology to ensure all identified risks are monitored, Accuracy, and clarity of monitoring reports, Involvement of management and staff in having the reports, Comparability of output against predetermined limits. https://www.fsa.gov.uk/pubs/policy/p10.pdf The benefits of risk assessment: There are multi-layered assessment benefits to the banks and financial institutions. It include such as to make profits and distribute among the shareholders. It helps the clients for the banks others (employees) satisfied. This brings more jobs to the public and indirectly helps in boosting GDP. The risk assessment keeps busy the staff in doing their professional work. It can be seen that the supervisors need to spend time on-site discussing the issues with senior bank management. The time taken to perform this work will vary from bank to bank depending on the size and complexity of the institution. However, following a risk assessment, the supervisor will be better placed to decide on the intensity of the future supervision having obtained a better understanding of a banks risk profile. The intensity of supervision and the amount and focus of supervisory action will increase in line with the perceived risk profile of a bank. One advantage this has for banks is that the cost of supervision, in terms of management time or through direct costs. WE have to agree that the banks pay high costs for initial assessments, and in turn if their projects are completed, the banks then take benefit of having high wages and other facilities. The bank official especially in the third world are highly paid. Table 1 shows the three pillars in the banking sector Pillar 1 Minimum Capital Requirements Pillar 2 Supervisory Review Pillar 3 Market Discipline Market risk _ No changes from Basel I Credit risk _ Significant change from Basel I _ Three different approaches to the calculation of minimum capital requirements _ Capital incentives for banks to move to more sophisticated credit risk management approaches based on internal ratings _ Sophisticated approaches have systems/controls and data collection requirements as well as qualitative requirements for risk management Operational risk _ Not explicitly covered in Basel I _ Three different approaches to the calculation of minimum capital requirements _ Adoption of each approach subject to compliance with defined à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"qualifying criteria Banks should have a process for assessing their overall capital adequacy and strategy for maintaining capital levels _ Supervisors should review and evaluate banks internal capital adequacy assessment and strategies _ Supervisors should expect banks to operate above the minimum capital ratios and should have the ability to require banks to hold capital in excess of the minimum (i.e., trigger/target ratios in the United Kingdom; prompt corrective action in the United States) _ Supervisors should seek to intervene at an early stage to prevent capital from falling below minimum levels Market discipline reinforces efforts to promote safety and soundness in banks _ Core disclosures (basic information) and supplementary disclosures to make market discipline more effective Source: KPMG, 2003. The Table 1 above shows the details of three pillars. These guidelines are apparently seems to be quite added information for the banking managements. But again there is an inverse argument, who accepts the challenges, threats and then commits to carry out the assessments, so that the future risks could be minimised at least. Methodology and Data: The data for the banks regarding Germany, France and Italy was analysed by the Excel programme. During this analysis, a simple linear regression was carried out. There were altogether 8 parameters which were used. However in case Germany banks were compared to that of France and Italy. The parameters were such as, index, loans, equity, LA, NIM, ROAA, ROAE, and CIR. As a matter of fact these parameters are the base lines for the banks to work/operate in the competitive financial markets. Results and Discussions: The results of the analysis are presented below. It has already been indicated that the German data is compared to that of France and Italy. The Figure 1 below shows that the relationship between the German banks and France banks seems to be very poor. It means that the ways the German banks are applying are entirely different to that of France and vice versa. Figure 2 discusses the regression analysis of German banks versus Italy banks on the basis of index. It can be seen that again the relationship still very week. The data regarding loans is presented in the following Figure 3, in this case German banks were compared to that of France banks. The results show that the way the German banks are obtaining or lending loans are not comparable to that of France. It can also be seen from that Figure 3 that R2 value is too weak. Figure 4 shows the data comparison between the German banks and Italian banks. Again the regression analysis indicates that there is not good relationship between the two. Even when we look at the equation, it suggests that Italian banks approach is entirely negative to that of German banks regarding extending loan facilities to the businesses. In reality equity is the very important parameters, banks work against equity either way. It means if banks are getting loans from other financial institutions, it works on the basis of equity. It also argued here that the poor relationship between the German banks and France clearly demonstrates that there are more risks for the France banks when compared to German banks (Figure 5). Figure 6 highlights the comparison between German banks and Italy banks. The relationship between the two still very poor. It can also be seen that this relationship is negative. The data regarding LA is presented in Figure 7 and the relationship between German banks and France is indeed very poor. The results of LA regarding German banks and Italy banks suggest that there is negative relationship between the two. The same can be seen from Figure 8. Figure 9 suggests that the relationship regarding NIM for German and Italy banks negative, it means no relationship at all. The data concerning NIM is presented in the Figure 10. It can be seen that the relationship between the German banks and Italy very poor. As this relationship shows negative relationship. The analysis of ROAA regarding German and France banks is given in Figure 11. The negative relationship shows there is no strength in particularly applying the same approach. Again this ratio is highly important to note the differences in the banks. The results of analysis are given in Figure 12. It can be seen that there exists negative relationship between the German banks and Italy banks. Data regarding ROAE ratios is compared between the German and France banks. The same can be seen in Figure 13. The negative R2 value indicated the weakness of the relationship. Figure 14 suggests that the relationship between the German and Italy banks is negative. It means that the way the German banks are calculating ROAE is not same in case of Italy. The data in reference to CIR is shown in Figure 15. The comparison between the German and France banks shows that there is a negative relationship. The comparison about CIR between Germany and Italy clearly shows that there exists negative relationship. The same data is shown in Figure 16. When we look at the Figures above, in most of the analysis conducted for the various parameters show that there is a negative relationship. It means that the strength of the approach differs. As a matter of fact, it is argued that the methods of calculating risks are nearly similar in the German, France and Italy banks. So a question arises, why it is so? There could be many reasons behind the explanations. But very viable and quite acceptable refers to the non availability of the data during the months and years. The data shows big gaps, and further suggests the approaches in calculating risks in the banks are not same as in regarding Germany. Conclusions and recommendations: When we look above, it can be seen that there are different ways and means are being used by the three countrys banks in calculating the various ratios, including loans and debts. It is also very clear that there is no relationship when the data were tested through regression analysis. There is likely possibility that the German banks are not using those principles, where are used by the France and Italy banks, or vice versa. Concerning recommendations, it is suggested that the German banks if use the similar way of in disbursing loans especially; there is high probability that the risks could be deep down compared among the three countrys banks.

The United States Should Not Negotiate With Terrorists

The United States first tool to achieve these goals is diplomatic. First, the United States needs to retract the policy that the United States does not negotiate with Terrorists. Negotiation creates a negative connotation of concession or handing power over to the enemy. Negotiation, however, can be mere discussion with the enemy to find a way to end violence. Diplomatic tools consist of treaties, conventions, alliances, and accords. Holding conventions and creating accords will be the most successful approaches. Treaties require Senate and Presidential approval which can be a lengthy process and is tied up in domestic politics. The United States already has certain alliances and it is necessary to cultivate them, but in the context of ISIS and Syria, alliances are already set with the Free Syrian Army. Conventions to bring together many nations in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States, to formulate agreements and accords with the states that are involved in Syria and fighti ng ISIS. ISIS, should not be a signatory since they are not a recognized state, but should be able to attend to make decisions with an understanding of ISIS’ wants because by understanding their objectives and interests we are better able to make policy to decrease violence of ISIS. Its amazing how one song can change your entire mood. Whether it brings back an old memory, or pumps you up for a basketball game, music can do wonders. One simple song could change a lot. Relaxing in my room listening to my favorite song is probably my idea of mini paradise. Music to me is one of the most powerful and important things in my life. Music is an expression of someones feelings that can be translated into other peoples feelings, depending on how the person interprets it.Music has a very strong impact on society. People that live in deferent areas of the world like different types of music. For example, people around South Dakota probably prefer country music more than people In New York. Music Is as popular today as its ever been. Everybody Likes music. Music allows people a release from the stress that life puts on people, allowing them to feel emotions that they have never felt before, emotions that they cant feel anywhere else. The reason we feel the emotions that we do is because when a person listens to a song that they really like, their body releases a hormone called dopamine. Dopamine improves blood flow in humans, reducing risk of heart attacks, heart failure, kidney problems, and low-blood pressure. Robert Young McMahon, music theory professor at the College of New Jersey, says people listen to music to help them feel good in whatever situation they are in and hat different types of music call for different situations. If you go to a grocery store, you hear music played In the background that usually has popular standards, McMahon says. But, If you go to the Penn Station In New York, you usually hear classical music. There Is a reason that they are playing those specific kinds of music. That reason Is because subway stations In New York can get really hectic, and classical music would relax people hopefully enough for them not to cause a ruckus. If you want to relax, most people would probably recommend classical music. They loud probably recommend it because of the slow melodies, and a generally relaxing sound. What they dont know is that classical music can actually slow down your heart rate, causing real relaxation Music also makes you think than you would consciously. When your brain listens to music, it tries to separate each individual sound. An example would be when you listen to a song, your brain focuses on the beat of the drum while also focusing on the strum of the guitar and the lyrics to the song. This causes your brain to exercise without you even realizing it, causing you to end out brain waves.

Jungian Theories in Fifth Business Essay Example

Jungian Theories in Fifth Business Essay Jungian Theories in Fifth Business The first instalment, Fifth Business, in The Deptford Trilogy by Robertson Davies incorporates many different ideas to help the book progress as smoothly as it does. Davies interest in psychology heavily influenced many of the actions and ideas portrayed in the novel. By combining the psychology theories of the famed psychologist, Carl Jung, with creatively designed characters, Davies was able to create his finest piece of literature. Many characters in the novel are based around the ideas of Jung and among them, the main protagonist, Dunstan Ramsey, has these deas applied. The individuation of Dunstan is a continuous Journey throughout the novel as he tries to find out what he needs to do to find out who he truly is and his anima/animus characteristics that are evident progressing through the book. Individuation, as defined by Carl Jung, is the psychological process that makes a human being an individual a unique, indivisible unit or a whole man. The development of Dunstan Ramseys individuation develops as he grows older and starts to find himself. The meeting of Diana Marfleet after the First World War is the irst phase of Dunstans individuation as this was his first real relationship with a woman. Conversely, later in the novel, the emergence of the beautiful Faustina fills the sexual void in Dunstan that Diana could not. But one of the most important characters to the development of Dunstan is the manly bisexual Liesl. Liesl is the first and only person that truly understands Dunstan and she allows him to rediscover his body and mind. Dunstan began life with fewer weaknesses, perhaps, than other people, but the weaknesses he did have were great and limiting. He mitigated these significantly during his lifetime, for his and others benefit, means that he made real and permanent progress. Included in Jungs many other proposed psychological theories are the ideas of anima and animus. Jung suggests that in the unconscious of males one can find the expressions of a feminine inner personality, this being anima; similarly, one can find an expression of a masculine inner personality in females, animus. However, one has oth anima and animus characteristics. Dunnys anima is very present from the beginning of the novel. The guilt of the snowball hitting Mrs. Dempster stayed with Dunstan for the rest of his life. This event caused Dunstan to adopt a motherly role in that he felt the need to take care of Mary. His animus is evident when he decided to Join the army. Dunstan felt that he wasnt the man he wanted to be so in choosing to enlist made him hope that he could find who he is. Dunstan felt the need to show his masculinity by Joining the armed forces and at the point where he decided to ush the machine gun nest was the point where it showed his need for more masculinity. Dunstans wonder and desire to find ways to lift the guilt of the snowball off his shoulders is evident in his Journey to find out who he really is. Through meeting people from Mary and Paul, Boy and Leola, Liesl and Faustina, helped Dunstan in reaching individuation. And by his unique anima and animus characteristics, Dunstan was able to find out what he wanted in life and what he wanted to give to others. Both Jungian theories are connected to Dunstan Ramsey in Davies Fifth Business.

buy custom Jazz Concert Report essay

buy custom Jazz Concert Report essay First Report I attended one of the most interesting concerts in my lifetime. This event was held at the Alvas Showroom on Sunday, 23rd November. This place was the most suitable location because of its ability to accommodate many people at once. I was already in the Alvas Showroom by 4:00 pm when the show began. The concert was graced by the Kevin ONeal Group featuring Michole Briana White. Kevin ONeal is my lecturer and other members of his group are Gary Matsumoto and Marvin Smitty Smith. ONeal was in charge of the contra bass, 5 string electric base, composition, vocal, and arrangements. More so, White took care of vocals while Matsumoto was in charge of the Hamburg Steinway piano. Lastly, Smith was on the drums. The order of performance in terms of songs and their composers was as follows. Piece Composer Our Man HigginsLee MorganOn a Clear Day.................................Frank SinatraDat Dere..........................Bobby TimmonsBody Soul...Johnny GreenMy Favorite Things...Richard RodgersLong As Youre Living.Tommy Turrentine/Julian PriesterGood Morning Heartache..Dan Fisher/Ervin Drake/Irene HiggenbothamBlame It On The Alcohol/You Go To My HeadFrank SinatraDayDreaming..Aretha FranklinYouve Got It Made...We Are in the CrowdLove For Sale..Cole Porter Kevin ONeal was the main performer of all these pieces. He is usually an impressive musician. The funny thing is that on that day he had lost his voice. The question that lingered on everyones mind was whether he would impress in this performance? The first piece on stage was Our Man Higgins, and I must admit that ONeal did his best to overcome the voice problem. The combination of contra bass, the 5 string electric bass, and smooth vocals from White brought about a perfect start to the concert. There was erratic shaking of bodies in the hall, as everyone has appreciated the opener. Piano by Matsumoto and drums by Smith added flavor to everything in the course of the performance. I was personally engrossed in the concert and found myself dancing. Other performances were made up of such pieces as On a Clear Day, Dat Dere, Body Soul, My Favorite Things, Long As Youre Living, Good Morning Heartache, Blame It On The Alcohol, DayDreaming, and Youve Got It Made. ONeal did his best to brin g out the best rendition. Everyone in the hall including me cheered at the performance. One unique thing that happened during the concert is that people could not stop cheering and dancing as Smiths drums combined perfectly with Matsumotos piano matched by the perfect vocal from White. The disappearance of the voice did not stop ONeal from delivering his best performance in the spare piece Love For Sale. I enjoyed my entire time at the concert and would be glad to attend more in the futurre. Second Report I had an unforgettable chance to attend a jazz concert at the Catalina Jazz Club. Specifically, I attended it at the Catalina Jazz Club located 6725, West Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood, California 90028. It is situated one block to the east of Highland Avenue and the entrance of McCadden. I was there before 7:00 pm when the doors were opened for dinner. I ate Chicken Marsala sold at $26.00 as the main course. My evening before the concert started with this delicious dinner. It is worth noting that Karin Allyson, a popular American jazz vocalist, was the one going to grace this anticipated event. The club was already full by 8:30 pm when the concert officially began. The lineup of the performances was given to everyone, and it emerged that Allyson was going to perform some of her popular hit songs including I Didnt Know About You, Azure-Te, Collage, Daydream, From Paris to Rio, Wild For You, Imagina: Songs of Brasil, Round Midnight, and Yuletide Hideaway (A Christmas Album). When she stepped on the stage together with the band for her first performance, there were welcoming cheers from everyone in the audience. The welcoming note to the song I Didnt Know About You was perfect and amazing. I could not wait for any other moment to dance, so I began immediately. Allysons vocals and style of living presentation was one unique thing that I had never come across before. The band supported her in everything during this presentation, and kept everyone in the dancing mood. Immediately after the first piece, Allyson switched to the next song Azure-Te, and her voice was incredible at th is. Her vocals brought more people to the dancefloor and everyone continued cheering and shouting joyfully at the admirable vocals and the entire rendition. The performance got better every minute as she introduced other popular hits such as Daydream one by one. The song From Paris to Rio was also outstanding in its own measure because it attracted more cheers and dancing among everyone in the club. The pieces Wild For You, Imagine: Songs of Brasil, and Round Midnight brought the concert to the peak, as the most unimaginable thing happened. The audience reached for the stage with the aim of greeting Allyson and appreciating her unique performance. The show stopped for a while to bring order into the club and avoid any injuries. With the festive season upon us, Allyson would finish her nights performance with the song Its Love, Its Christmas. It gave us the feeling of celebration and enhanced the festive mood among everyone. What a show for me! I will never forget this concert because of the immeasurable quality of Allysons performance and outstanding vocals. Buy custom Jazz Concert Report essay

Why should Schotland become independent Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Why should Schotland become independent - Essay Example ttish voted unanimously for the devolution of powers, which meant that despite Scotland being part of the UK, its government gained new more powers such as control of health care and education and in the first time a Scottish parliament (Pruitt, 2014). The quest for independence continued with the election of Alex Salmond in 2007 and subsequent re-election in 2011, which led to the approval of the 2014 independence referendum to end the 307- year old union with the UK even though the SNP party under the leadership of Alex did not win as anticipated. However, some of the major as to why Scotland should be independent include efforts to stop the mass nuclear weapon building, establish Scotland’s democracy, create opportunities for its citizens, end unfairness, and because it has capacity to support it operation. As with democracy, it means that it will endow Scotland self-determination ability and will possess full power in decision making in terms of political affairs. Such was the strong stand held by Salmond in May 2012, when he often stated; the Scottish people living in Scotland are better positioned to make the choices that affect Scotland (Carrell and team, 2014). The pro-independence campaigns by the proponents of the Scotland self-rule often stated that the union had a democratic deficit because United Kingdom is a unitary state and lacks a codified constitution. This deficit has often been used to refer to a period between the 1979 and 1997 United Kingdom elections, during when even though the Labour party holding majority seats in house, the Conservative Party ruled the entire UK. In reference to the instance, Alex Salmond said that such situations amounted to the lack of democracy and added that the Scottish people need to have the right choice for Scotland (independentscotland. org, 2014). Another reason for the independence quest is that with an independent Scotland, it will be easy to address the removal of the Trident nuclear weapons. The aftermath

Advanced medical-surgical nursing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Advanced medical-surgical nursing - Essay Example rocedures and equipment, coping with incomplete and rapidly changing medical knowledge, addressing workforce shortages and ensuring appropriate adherence to correct procedures with right nursing attitude. These finer concepts in nursing when applied lead to the identification and establishment of a patients risk management process within the overall ultimate design of a health care process. Such processes are more required at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/facilities of any hospital as ICU is one of the most critical services of any hospital and the quality of such critical patients response is important in determining the success of the entire hospital itself. In the following paragraphs we examine the application of the finer concepts of nursing care in three specific areas of nursing the critically ill patient. Areas discussed, with relative analysis are; airway management, sensory imbalance/overload and family communication within the intensive care unit. The discussions in these areas of nursing care become more pertinent if the patient is mechanically ventilated. Both short and long duration airway management in critically ill patients require substantial caution and skills. Right approach which can be termed a model approach is still being evolved in research algorithms. Difficult ventilation has generally been reckoned as a state in which a trained anesthetist experience inability to maintain the oxygen saturation more than 90% using a face mask for ventilation and 100% inspired oxygen, given that the pre-ventilation oxygen saturation level was within the acceptable range.(American,1993) Difficult intubation ,on the other hand, has been reckoned as the need for more than three intubation attempts or attempts at intubations that last more than 10 minutes.(American,1993) Schwartz et al (1995) furnish data that 3% of critically ill patients hospitalized suffer death within 30 minutes of administering emergency intubation, and another 8% of intubation events

Filming People Without Permission

Filming People Without Permission People use their cellphones to record a moment when they find it amusing, it can be somebodys birthday, can be an event that they like, or for fun. But when used in the wrong way, it can lead to bad luck for the subjects who were filmed without their consent and can lead to major consequences. Its important to know whether we should and we shouldnt, why do we do this? For a prank? To go revenge on someone or sell someone out? These kind of situations can mean a lot of other things. Nearly 85% of all teenagers who own a installed camera electronic (Smartphones, Digital Cameras, etc.) record an individual who has been recorded without his or her authorization. This can cause a big privacy problem to those who dont want themselves to be filmed by another person and submit them to the public/ social media networks. As these acts can lead to the victim getting bullied, harassed, or ruin their reputation. There are such laws regarding these acts in some parts of the U.S.,   a person who commits a crime like this will demand the violator to pay a huge amount of money, up to $100,000.00 fine. Many questions have been asked. Why bother filming others without their consent? There are many reasons why teenagers do this, one reason is to record a fight between two guys just because for entertainment. This act is very dangerous, yes there were two people fighting, but no permission was given. Fighting in public is prohibited as many people will record this horrid action and will motivate others to do the same thing. As many videos online are being uploaded to the internet for about 6000 videos per second, all it takes is one video. That video will be shared, re-uploaded non-stop until it meets the maximum amount of people online. Once anything is online, it cant be erased if deleted. Be very cautious when filming the right subject to avoid the consequences it holds. Another unanswered question is why film? Many people dont realize this isnt a game when they are filming another individual fighting another individual. Entertain themselves is the reason, many teenagers share this info to one another in order to spread rumors and other remarks, ordering everyone to attack the one who lost the fight. Which spreads also controversy to the media determining on protecting someones privacy to avoid being filmed and bullied from others. People have already violated the people who dont want to expose themselves to the public in social media, not that its okay to be popular, but this can make thousands of people despise the victim depending on the situation. If not careful, this can lead the victim to bad luck. Its important that parents need to know what their teenagers film when not present. Even though they are already grown up, they still need to learn the right and maturity way to handle these acts. Even if their parents dont expect these acts, they must teach their teen how to respect peoples privacy. Other reasons are not common, but can happen at anytime. Another reason is to spy or eavesdrop another person. Its another way to give out the truth to another individual and show what the person you spied on is doing and what is their next motive to move on to. This reason is practically not important but its another way to give out the truth, just like how a News Network handles the news; they cover for it, send out the facts on the story they want to cover, and talk on a serious note. The next reason is for fun. People love to have fun especially when they have the freedom to do so. But for this kind of filming, some people love to secretly capture / take a picture of someones face and try to edit them in a silly way. This is another common reason why people film others, even though the topic is Filming another person, Filming also counts as taking a photo of someone without their permission. When people take a photo of themselves, they call it a slang term for it, a selfie. and a fter that, they edit their photos in a more hilarious and weird way to produce laughter within themselves. Then, at other times they would jokingly take a picture of a friend of theirs and edit their face in a hilarious way, even though he didnt want his face to become in the social network media. Many things can go wrong if taking photos are not taken seriously, some people dont care if they are filmed without their permission and seem okay about it. But note that this can also affect on your reputation and your current job too! Your manager does not want to see your face edited in a inappropriate manner/way so make sure nobody is using your privacy rights in a bad situation. Now how can this hurt you and others if you dont take this seriously and still disrespect someones privacy. EVERYONE needs privacy to continue progressing to their established goal for the day. When its been treating itself badly, it cannot help you in any sort of way, and your goal will mean nothing to you, so be careful when dealing with people who can easily publish your face in the media. In one by one, this will show you why to be extra cautious about being filmed. (Get Hired by Manager for a job) Your boss at work wants to learn about you, they are not people to confide if you are not cooperating as this is a requirement. They want people who are confident and always cooperating, even if you didnt post the edited pictures. (To prevent bullying to the victim) You could be in trouble depending on how the picture they have taken of you represented. Be sure to check with an adult if this situation happens, this is common, but can be controlled. If you think privacy is not a big deal, think about the consequences, anything can happen. (To avoid conflict) Even if you didnt film someone or if YOURE the victim, you can avoid any problems you didnt commit. And finally (To stay safe online and everywhere) everybody in the world is not nice, so make some good and kind friends who trust you to become yourself and most importantly, to straighten your charisma and your social life. This isnt a PSA about not using electronics, but teenagers should be very careful not to mislead technology as a way to ruin other peoples lives. Theres not much to go on other more facts about recording other people but its a major problem adults have to face through. 15% of people who were filmed by another person committed suicide due to excessive amount of bullying and harassment the people gone through by their bad luck. One person was filmed when he was sleeping in class and he was drooling while not noticing hoods drool. One student filmed him sleeping on his desk for five minutes until he woke up, checked his phone for new messages and one message had the video one of his friends had sent him, of course it was him, drooling and sleeping and during the video, one person approached him and drew inappropriate drawings on his face and laughter filled the room. The video ends, then later in the day he met a group of 12 people gathering around him and calling him a name I cannot ty pe here, he was beaten up and sprang home which was his last place to visit. A true story, later on the student who filmed the suicidal kid never cared about the kid, and the school he went to, suspended everyones phone. Which no one followed this rule. I believe no one should film other people for entertainment because it puts yourself and the victim at risk and can suffer the consequences, adults should be aware of what their own kids are up to and what are they dealing with as ignoring this can lead to another victim, then another, then another, and so on

A Portrait of Dorian Gray :: A Portrait of Dorian Gray

A Portrait of Dorian Gray â€Å"He began to wonder whether we could ever make psychology so absolute a science that each little spring of life would be revealed to us†. Lord Henry spent many days merely philosophizing about the power of the mind and how it could be manipulated. Exercising his abilities of control and influence was what Harry lived for, and when Dorian uttered the fateful phrase wishing to trade places with the portrait, he was not striking a bargain with the Lord of Darkness, but rather one of his rogues. Lord Henry assumed the role of temptation and lured the naà ¯ve Dorian into a legacy of abominable deeds and sordid affairs. Dorian received the benefits of Harry’s charm, wit, and views. As for payment, Dorian surrendered any control he may have had over his own thoughts, decisions, or emotions. Harry was able to pursue his quest for mind control and perform his own psychological experiments as he willed. The matter of the portrait that had plagued Dorian for most of hi s adult life can easily be explained. The painting was merely his guilt that had manifested and displaced itself as figment of his imagination. For although he had traded his self control for superficial characteristics, he still remained the owner of his soul. Harry slowly exerts control over Dorian in two simple ways. First he implants ideas and reactions into Dorian’s sub-conscience leading him to believe that the thoughts that are flowing from his head are his own, not Lord Henry’s. After Sybil’s death, Harry consoles Dorian, or at least that is how Dorian sees the encounter. â€Å"You have explained me to myself, Harry†¦I felt all that you have said, but somehow I was afraid of it, and I could not express it to myself. How well you know me!†. It is not that Harry knows Dorian so well, but that Lord Henry has influenced and molded Dorian’s coping mechanisms. The young man will now follow this pattern of denial each time he is faced with remorse, guilt, or sadness. Henry himself admits to the fact that he is experimenting with Dorian, â€Å"It was clear to him that the experimental method was the only method by which one could arrive at any scientific analysis of the passions: and certainly Dori an Gray was a subject made to his hand, and seemed to promise rich and fruitful results†.

Effects On The Environment Essay

The human population is growing rapidly and is expected to continue to grow over the next 50 years, with that being said because of the growing population it means the earth and environment will have to grow/adapt with the ever growing population of humans. One part of adapting to the population will be to try and address the needs of humans such as food, energy and raw materials. It will be hard to keep continuing to get our food, energy and raw materials in the way we do now without possibly damaging the earth’s environment where it cannot be repaired; Pollution, deforestation, farming, over-fishing, and global warming will be the cause of the environment being damaged. Environmental Issues Recycling: recycling is not only about waste control; it is also part of the possible conservation of resources to repairing damage on the environment. Over the last few years there has been much talk about recycling and its impact however there is still a number of individuals who still do not know how recycling can help the environment. The earth has to work hard to produce and meet the needs of the growing population; people will need to work to preserve the resources the earth has in order to ensure that the environment as we know will still be around for future populations. One problem of recycling practices is the limited emphasis put on practicing concepts of salvage and reuse. This is a society that is actively progressive and without certain information or statistics to grab the attention of society then all the concepts and information provided will fall on deaf ears. It is important for the population to start embracing these concepts otherwise Earth will be uninhabitable in the future. The emphasis of recycling is not being talked about enough, and neither is an  alternative that is why earth’s ability for growth is being challenged by what many humans do on a daily basis. There are many ways in which humans can try to address many of the environmental issues. Forestry: stop cutting down trees or less of them, and those that have been cut down should be replaced with new planted ones. Fishing: ensuring that there is a limit of how much one can fish and catch this way the fish do not become extinct. Economic issues: there needs to be an improvement of human’s standards of living by trying to reduce carbon dioxide and any type of greenhouse gas emissions. Agriculture: Start producing high yielding crop of good quality without the use of chemicals and fertilizers. Energy: Try replacing non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuel with renewable sources like solar, water and wind generation for use of energy instead. Fossil fuels affect the environment in ways that many are not aware of because many do not know what fossil fuels are; Fossil fuels are- gasoline, oil, coal, or natural gas. Whenever these forms of fuel are used or burned the environment is polluted with gases that are emitted into the earth’s atmosphere which causes harm to it. These fuels are used to run cars, trucks, heat homes, business and power factories. The majority of air pollutants are usually results of fossil fuel either in the home, or from industries which use internal combustion engines, what happens when they are in use is the smoke releases tiny particles of carbon in the air, it sits suspended in the air and can reduce the light at ground level and deposits of smoke particles, soot and ash can float preventing light, because of the effects of these gases have it is important to try and find other ways to obtain fuel. Many humans believe that there is much that can be done and many are not doing, those who are trying to spread the word will confront the problem of sustainability and will try to propose ideas to do it. The idea of sustainability is the main topic with regards to the future of the environment and earth.
